LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City man charged with possessing video material involving child pornography and bestiality could be sentenced to a decade in the Arizona Department of Corrections. Adam Duren, 23, could have faced decades more behind bars if convicted of all charges at trial.
Instead, three bestiality-related counts and three sexual exploitation of a minor charges are dismissed in a plea deal convicting Duren of three charges reduced to attempted possession of child pornography.
Deputy Mohave County attorney Leah Nelson said a cyber tip reported to the Lake Havasu City Police Department led to Duren early this year. She said Duren admitted to investigators that he purchased the material and favored drugged or raped scenarios involving 10- to 18-year olds.
Nelson described the sensitive contents of the four videos resulting in plea agreement convictions.
Mohave County Superior Court Judge Megan McCoy told Duren in August that 70 years in prison was the minimum sentence possible if he were convicted of all counts at trial. The agreement limits punishment to 5 to 10 years in prison, followed by lifetime probation.
Sentencing is scheduled Dec. 2.
