Anguis refuses to mask up during board meetings

MOHAVE COUNTY – Continuing debate over the merits of face cover during the COVID-19 pandemic turned a bit chippy during Monday’s Board of supervisors meeting. Supervisors circled back to another meandering discussion of county policy requiring non-exempt citizens to wear masks in county buildings and the board auditorium. Board Chairman Jean Bishop noted her concern that Dist. 2 Supervisor Hildy Angius and Dist. 5 Supervisor Ron Gould commonly don’t wear masks while at the dais during meetings. “Supervisor Angius I haven’t shared this before but I feel a little uncomfortable sitting in between you and Supervisor Gould not wearing a…

Fire department not responsive

Dear Editor, I live in Valle Vista and have experienced nothing but disrespect from the local (Kingman) Fire Department. I have met on several occasions in person and by telephone with the assistant fire chief. The fire chief has never returned my calls. Over the past few months I have reported several apparent fire hazards locally and have received no response. I have been told by fire personnel, “to get volunteers to correct the issue if you thinks it’s an issue,” and “you have a local church. Get them to do it.” When asked if the fire department would drive…

Morgan sentenced for waterway death

A two-year prison term has been ordered for a California man convicted in a waterway fatality. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert imposed sentence Oct. 22 for Kevin Morgon, 47. Morgon pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and aggravated assault for a June, 2016 accident on the Colorado River in Bullhead City. A boat operated by Morgon collided with a jet ski. A 13-year-old girl on the personal watercraft was killed and her mother was seriously injured. Defense attorney Michael Frame argued the victims were at fault because the jet ski was heading in the wrong direction on the wrong…

Zombie homes

Dear Editor, The D.A. and the courts take property owners, lien owners and banks’ rights away to protect thir property and investments. It takes nine months to a year-plus to evict people who don’t pay home or rent payments. These people will strip your property and have unsanitary conditions and destruction. If you go on your property, the D.A. will file charges of criminal trespassing and assault. The D.A. and court systems discriminate against the true owner of property. The true owners of the property get screwed three times: one, no payments; two, attorney fees, court fees, and trespassing charges;…
