COVID-19 update: 27 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late this afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 27 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and one death. The death is from a previously reported case in the Kingman service area. That person is in the 70-79 year age range. Twenty of the new cases are in the Bullhead City service area. Woman commits suicide in holding cell

BULLHEAD CITY – A local woman reportedly committed suicide in a Bullhead City holding cell late Sunday afternoon. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said 34-year-old Amber Dawne Fagundes was unresponsive when she was discovered with an undisclosed item wrapped around her neck at 4:20 p.m. Fagundes was being detained on disorderly conduct, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia charges. KINGMAN – Although this is an election year of extreme importance, the Board of the Mohave Republican Forum (MRF) has unanimously determined that the “health risks” of holding in-person meetings is too great as the COVID 19 figures are trending upward. Thus, there will be no MRF meetings in June or July, prior to the early voting and Primary. MRF is uncertain as to when meetings will resume. MOHAVE COUNTY – The Treasurer’s Office will reopen its cashier windows to the public on Monday June 22. Mohave County Treasurer Cindy Landa Cox said, “The reopening was delayed in order to address a design issue related to our cashier windows negative airflow which is hazardous during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, our Mohave County Public Works/Facilities staff engineered a simple solution using Plexiglas remnants.” These remnants were left over from the installation of Sneeze-Guards in other county offices.
