Movie night is July 31

KINGMAN – Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will host its monthly movie night on Friday, July 31 beginning at 6 p.m. The featured movie is Ninotchka, an American romantic comedy featuring Greta Garbo, Melvyn Douglas, and Ina Clair. Steve Conn will provide historical and behind-the-scenes commentary before the movie starts. Family and friends are welcome. Popcorn, snacks and drink will be available. A $2 donation is requested. LAKE HAVASU CITY – A 14-year-old girl died after running out of water and suffering severe heat-related illness while hiking with family members in Lake Havasu City. Fire Department personnel responded at 10:53 a.m. Sunday after learning a teenager was in distress. The victim who was located about 100 yards from the SARA Park Trailhead was rushed to Havasu Regional Medical Center. Vanover gets life sentence for role in mother’s murder

KINGMAN – The horrific murder of a Kingman woman over a custody dispute involving her grandchildren ended Friday with the sentencing of the victim’s daughter who pleaded guilty to first degree murder. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle imposed a life prison sentence for Carrie Vanover, 24. Co-defendant Mark Baldonado, 32, was previously sent to the Arizona Department of Corrections under an identical plea agreement.
