“All Residents & Visitors Stay Home Unless Absolutely Necessary”
MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (April 2, 2020) – This morning (04/03/20) the Mohave County Public Health Department received two positive COVID-10 test results in the county. One case, an adult, is out of the Lake Havasu City service area, and is in isolation, recovering at home. This individual is epidemiologically linked to one of the previous LHC cases. The second case, also an adult, is out of the Kingman service area and is isolation and recovering at home as well.
Our nurses have begun the case investigations and will be working with the patients to notify close contacts.
There are now a total of twelve confirmed cases in Mohave County, five in Lake Havasu City, two in Bullhead City, and five in Kingman.
Mohave County Public Health Director Denise Burley says “These additional increases in positive cases across the county indicates a stronger presence of COVID-19 in our communities. The county will begin providing aggregate case data (age ranges, gender) for Mohave County cases beginning at the close of the day on Monday.
Meanwhile, Burley added that “it is of utmost importance for all residents and visitors to stay home unless absolutely necessary, practice good hygiene, and engage in physical distancing (6 ft.). We must work individually and as a community to keep our case numbers down. ”
COVID-19 is believed to be spread mostly through respiratory droplets produced when a sick person coughs or sneezes. Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The best way to prevent COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases is to:
· Avoid close contact with sick individuals
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
· Stay home when you are sick
· Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue away immediately
· Clean and disinfect surfaces and frequently used or touched objects, with disinfectant sprays or wipes
· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or singing happy birthday twice). Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if water and soap are not available
· Please remember to practice social distancing (approximately six feet or more between and among individuals).

Can I ask how you practice your guidelines when people from other states and counties are allowed to come in and launch their boats and spend weekend, shop, entertain themselves and then leave? bringing virus or taking virus to and from their home towns without knowing if they are carriers?
Your suggestions or guidelines are reactionary not proactive to protect those in areas where there had not been a case or spike.
Common sense days ago would have been to close ramps and fishing areas only to residents of the city… and enforced the distancing rule on the coves like they enforce DUI, seadoos after dark etc. . Would have curtailed this a while back and discouraged the influx we see every weekend coming into our towns on the river and the lakes.
