A burglary spree involving at least 20 victims sends a Golden Valley teenager to the Arizona Department of Corrections for 11.5 years. The prison sentence ordered April 5 was mandated in a plea agreement convicting Austin Ward, 19, of five burglary charges, theft of means of transportation and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
Prosecutor Bob Moon said Ward targeted vehicles, homes and businesses in the Golden Valley and Kingman area during the burglary and theft spree from last September into December. He said some of the stolen property included a vehicle, jewelry, firearms, safe and a laptop computer.
Moon said Ward agrees to pay restitution under terms of the plea agreement. Moon said restitution currently totals more than $93,000 but could exceed $100,000 once all the victims submit their claims.
