Walter Lee Shetler was born in Cheraw, Colorado on July 25, 1929, to Milton and Ada Shetler. He died on March 9, 2020 peacefully in his sleep at the home of his youngest daughter, Kathy, in Golden Valley, AZ. Walter was the seventh child of six brothers and four sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter.
Walter married Betty Slatter on December 18, 1949 in Filer, Idaho. They had 5 children: Marilyn (David McArdle), Joann Thompson, Walter Gene, Kathy (Paul Wood), and Richard (Roslyn Gilmore). Walter had 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
At the age of 30, Walter came to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He loved telling people about the Lord and discussing the Bible, singing, playing the guitar, and playing the harmonica. He loved telling stories and loved a good joke.
He and Betty were divorced in 1965, and he married Verna Clouter in 1966. They divorced in 1984. Over the years, Walter was a farmer, cattle rancher, worked in real estate, and was a welder. For a short time, he also had an antique store, a small café, and a walnut farm. He loved trying new things and meeting new people. He was able to travel extensively over his lifetime and made his last trip, over 2,000 miles roundtrip, at the age of 90.

Walters’s ashes will be sprinkled at Lake Roosevelt, Washington as he loved the area and had spent many hours fishing and boating there. In remembrance of Walter, we ask that you share random acts of kindness to continue his love for helping others.
The family contact is his daughter Kathy Wood. Arrangements were made by Neptune Society through Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel in Bullhead City.
