Dear Editor,
Just read the letter from your reader about ignorance being a risk to our country, and I could not agree more. A couple of days ago, while on Stockton Hill Rd., I witnessed a Trump rally with a lady holding a sign saying, “The U.S. is a Christian nation”, and I had to wonder. Where was she educated? She should look up the Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 Article XI, “The government of the United States is in no sense founded on the Christian religion …”
Ignorance should have no place in society today with information so readily available to anyone willing to ferret it out. Consider the facts we know about President Trump and the ignorant idolatry surrounding him held by many on the right. We do know he is a proficient liar (latest whopper) “No Quid Pro Quo”, an admitted adulterer, professed Christian (I don’t know how the right justifies that, but they apparently do.). I thought there was a commandment somewhere, oops, I forgot, if you don’t like / agree with the Good Book, ignore! Trump is also a part-time Democrat, Independent, Republican, nepotist, emolument violating, bone spurred coward, who has done more to divide this country than anyone since Joseph McCarthy. In spite of all this, his fans are blindly loyal believing the left must be out to “get” Trump for no other reason than they don’t like him.
It’s a fact we have seen more upheaval in this White House than has occurred at Kilauea’s volcano. How is this for draining the swamp? In the three years of the Trump administration the FBI has indicted, convicted, or gotten guilty pleas from 34 people and three companies – remember Gates, Papdopoulos, Flynn, Manafort, Cohen and Stone? Looks like Rudy is next. As Trump once said about shooting someone … and still the right would blindly believe, they actually want four more years of this insanity.
We have to educate the people, stop the juvenile name calling, learn to work together; and from past mistakes. So please educate me. Why do so many Christians think adultery is ok for a current President of the United States, but not for a past one, who was impeached by the House of Representatives?

p.s. For the gentleman who says oil exists for 100 years from Nevada to the Pacific coast, isn’t 100 years finite? Educate me!
Adultery was allegations. As for Oil it has been in the ground for billions of years. To late to educate you since your are already set in a tunnel vision to socialism.
This is a Christian Nation as evidenced by our values. As you can tell, I am a Trump supporter, one of the deplorable, and can answer your question about his supporters. To be a Christian, as Trump is, we confess our sins and are forgiven for them. President Trump became a Christian and God forgave him his sins. Therefore to the Christians that are supporting him, we have accepted him because those sins have been forgiven. As to the “guilty” people associated with the President, that was the Mueller investigation which exonerated the President of all wrong. It was during this investigation that people were accused of lying to the FBI and we had the raid of an American citizens home with guns drawn in the wee hours of the morning! All of this will come out with the Barr investigation and there will be more people, some from the FBI and CIA, going to prison.
