Thunder-Rode secretly deemed ‘in appropriate’

Dear Editor,

An article appeared in the Kingman Daily Miner Sunday, July 5, 2020 stating that the Kingman Farmers Market had moved to a dirt lot between the Art Hub and St. Vincent’s. Interesting that the reporter did not come down and interview Thunder-Rode where the market has been held for many years.

What the article left out and what the good people of Kingman need to know is the sleazy, slimy, underhanded, low-life, disgusting way they did it, not just to the good residents of the city of Kingman who have enjoyed coming to the market at the Thunder-Rode event center for many years now but also to the vendors who work so hard to present their products to the Market-goers and had absolutely no notice of this move prior to a cursory email from the Market President Greg Prudham, moving the Market out of the Thunder-Rode event center onto that skinny, extremely hot patch of dirt one day earlier.

Here is the truth about what they did that they want to withhold from the residents of Kingman residents.

The Kingman Farmers Market President, Greg Prudham and the Board of Directors held a secret under-handed meeting, excluding two critically important board members, I, Jack Alexander, being one of them. The Board made the decision that Thunder-Rode is no longer a ‘politically appropriate’ location and therefore had to move the market to the dirt lot between the Art Hub and St Vincent’s.

The bottom line is that the Market caved. In a letter sent to me Friday morning July 3, 2020, Mr. Prudham claimed that “we are coming under heavy fire from the community to the extent that if we continue tomorrow, there will be protesters on site.” What community? And what protesters? The protestors that were anticipated, were the ‘No Mask’ protesters in Locomotive Park, who did show up, peacefully held their event and peacefully departed at noon. Where was this “onslaught of heavy fire… “coming from? I asked Mr. Prudham and he could not provide an answer.

Mr. Prudham and the KFM board have succumbed to the political will of the Internet and social

media trolls, have taken the knee and bowed down at the altar of political correctness

according to AntiFa and these social media muckraking trolls. I do not believe these people represent the will of the people, the people who have enjoyed the Farmers Market at Thunder-Rode all these years or the vendors. You be the judge.

The issue at hand is that Mr. Prudham politicized and weaponized the Kingman Farmers Market, his position as President of the Board and the secret meeting of the Board of Directors to posit his and the Board’s political beliefs, secretly, without the input of the two critically important Board members not included. Mr. Prudham took the ‘let’s do political war against Jack and Thunder-Rode’ position and secretly aligned themselves with the trolls that the Confederate Battle Flag hanging again on bolted to the Thunder-Rode fence (it was recently torn off the fence by Antifa thugs) is so politically offensive to all of Kingman (it’s only been there for several years now) and all who would visit the Farmers Market that the Market had to therefore be moved to a dirt lot to satisfy the will of these Internet social media trolls, not the will of the people of Kingman. Here is the sign that so offended the Internet trolls and the Board Members included in the secret meeting of the Board.

Are you so offended by this sign proclaiming HERITAGE NOT HATE on our property?

Additionally, I understand that our new Kung Flu Commie Virus Scamdemic face mask signs at

the front and back of our building (we call it like it is and what it is – we all know where this

thing came from and are happy and proud to let the public know, with mirth and humor), was also so ‘offensive’ to the Internet Social Media Trolls and the secretly met Board of Directors of the Kingman Farmers Market therefore requiring that the Market had to be secretly moved to a dirt lot to save the good folks of the City of Kingman from going into apoplectic shock if they viewed it.

These people do not represent the will of the people of Kingman, the will of the Market-goers or the will of the hard-working vendors. The people of Kingman have the ability to think for themselves and don’t need to be led down the pathway of deceit and lies by a bunch of Internet Social Media trolls and muckrakers and the secretly held meeting of the Farmers Market Board of Directors.

Thunder-Rode has enjoyed presenting the farmers market to Kingman all these past years and we hope the market continues – wherever it goes. We love our vendors – they have been loyal and great through thick and thin. Many thousands have walked through the market at Thunder- Rode, enjoyed the locally grown produce and the locally made crafts, the wide-open spaces made available at the Thunder-Rode event center free of charge to the market. The friendly and courteous staff at Thunder-Rode – free use of our facilities, piped out music when live music was not available and always free ice water for all. Thunder-Rode has provided all of this and maintained our lot for the market, provided the space and has never charged the market a nickel.

But stay tuned, all is great and well at Thunder-Rode, so keep an eye out for some great things to be happening in our event center.

  1. Jack, this is despicable of them to do. I for one, among many others appreciate your hard work, and your consideration of our community. I think it’s an absolute shame that they chose a dirty little dirt lot to move to. It’s very unfortunate for vendors and consumers alike. As always I got your back Jack

  2. All I have to say, my brother, is AMEN! I’m so, so, tired of the few dictating what the many need! Instead of a rebel flag, let’s turn our American upside down! We are in distress!

  3. Wow!! Sounds like a hypocrite. For Jack to offer his space free of charge all these years for the market with not one complaint, I believe the president of the farmers market should be replaced immediately. First for not being man enough to talk to Jack like a adult. Second for the irresponsibility of be a president and make a very poor choice for the market. What a very childish thing to do.

  4. So sorry to hear how all of this went down. It was underhanded and very disrespectful to you. I stand with you, Thunder Rode and your Confederate Heritage sign.
