Thompson will serve prison time with plea deal

Brianna Lyn Thompson

An alleged drug dealer from Lake Havasu City will serve prison time and probation under terms of a plea agreement entered in Kingman. Brianna Lyn Thompson, 26, pleaded guilty Wednesday to possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale and aggravated taking identities of others.

The convictions stem from a July, 2017 traffic stop of Thompson’s vehicle in the vicinity of Mesquite Avenue and Civic Center Lane.  Prosecutor Jefferson Pyper told the Court that Thompson was a passenger at the time and that officers observed in plain view on the floorboard a cotton ball, commonly associated with heroin use.

Pyper said a search of the vehicle prompted the seizure of 11.8 grams of black tar heroin and about three grams of methamphetamine. He said a driver’s license, social security cards, a car title, a list of names and social security numbers and checks belonging to other people were located in Thompson’s purse, along with a drug pipe and a used syringe.

Thompson also pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs related to a March 31, 2018 encounter with law enforcement in the area of Mulberry Avenue and White Oak Drive. Pyper said about 5.2 grams of methamphetamine was seized from her pants pocket and that Thompson told an officer that she had been using drugs since the age of 17.

Several charges are dismissed in the deal that requires Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle to order a five year prison term at a June 18 sentencing hearing. Thompson will serve four years probation upon her release from prison.
