Teen relationship brings one year

Timothy Krueger

KINGMAN – A Kingman man who admits having a full-fledged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl in 2023 entered a plea agreement on Thursday, July 11. Attorneys and Judge Doug Camacho acknowledge the girl was a willing participant, but cannot legally consent to such a relationship under Arizona law as an underage minor.

Timothy Krueger, 43, pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor and a jail destruction charge for some criminal damage at the Adult Detention Center following his arrest in Feb. A sexual assault charge is dismissed.

“This was never a sexual assault case,” said defense attorney Greg McPhillips.

The plea deal guarantees supervised probation as opposed to prison, and his attorney and Krueger pleaded for no further incarceration beyond the 134 days already spent in custody.

“I was in love with somebody and I didn’t understand the law,” Krueger told the Court. “Please let me go home.”

Camacho noted that Krueger previously racked up convictions in five separate criminal cases and that the Probation Department considers him a high risk for re-offending. Camacho also noted concern that the defendant was almost three times older than the teenage girlfriend.

Camacho said he was willing to accept the plea agreement under the circumstances, but he flatly rejected Krueger’s request for no further jail time. The Judge placed Krueger on supervised probation for three years and imposed a full year jail term, meaning 241 days more behind bars.
