KINGMAN – A Kingman teenager charged in a shooting death has entered a mandatory prison plea agreement. Keygun Field, 18, pleaded guilty to manslaughter during a Sept. 23 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle.
Field had been charged with first degree murder, but is convicted of the lesser included offense of manslaughter under the agreement. Unrelated aggravated assault and jail destruction charges are dismissed.
Deputy County Attorney James Schoppmann said Terry Hill, 35, was killed following a January 30 argument with a number of juveniles at a home in the 3600 block of Northfield Ave. Schoppmann said Hill died of a single gunshot to the head.
A Probable Cause statement authored by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said the argument occurred after Field asked Hill’s girlfriend for a ride home, but was rejected because the woman had taken some medication.
The plea agreement requires Judge Carlisle to impose a 10.5-year prison term at an Oct. 22 sentencing hearing.
