Local artist to host art class

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Get in touch with your artistic side at this weekend’s Cactus Garden Class. The crafty course taught by local artist Carol Campbell-Gertz may bring out the imaginative side of you that you didn’t know was there.  

Campbell-Gertz is a retired executive finance officer who decided to combine her love of wine and art into a unique hobby. Her painting on wine glasses business debuted in 2005.

Memory care facility hosted fundraiser carnival

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake View Terrace Memory Care Residence hosted a Summer Carnival for staff, patients, and family members of their residents, in support of an extremely special cause. Their Summer Carnival took place on August 21 at Lake View Terrace Memory Care Residence.  

The staff of the senior care facility are dedicated and trained to accommodate the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs around the clock.

Local grill to help raise funds for Final Journey healthcare nonprofit

LAKE HAVASU CITY – If you just so happen to be spending the Labor Day weekend in Lake Havasu, you may want to make a stop at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews. The restaurant is famous for their delicious entrees and beverages and will be partnering up with health care nonprofit, Final Journey for an all-day fundraiser.  

With over 30 years’ experience in the nursing profession, founder of Final Journey Charles Perkins spent many years with hospice patients and in home care.

Animal farm nonprofit helps trauma victims

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Equine certified founder Pam Nelson of the nonprofit Healing Meadows, is assisting victims of trauma cope with the help of farm animals. Last week, the organization hosted a meet and greet so that the community can learn more about how animals can play a key role with one’s emotional recovery. 

The Healing Meadows Meet and Greet took place on Thursday, August 15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Grapes and Grains wine bar.

LHC code changes for backyard fowls

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The gathering of burros occurred on August 5 with BLM successfully gathering 94 burros to ensure public safety. However, the animals are still on Highway 95, especially at night. 

Lake Havasu City board members caution the community to stay alert while on the highway in the evenings. City council approved two separate code changes to expand the density limit for the various residential zones for families along with the height limit of the Southgate district.
