LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds will be returning this season not just to spread holiday wishes through music, but also to welcome winter visitors.
For nearly two decades, the band created for adults sharing a love of music started with weekly rehearsals at Lake Havasu High School, eventually transformed into free community concerts.
Currently performing eight shows a year, the symphony has already jazzed up this November with two big band shows. One in the library, and second a performance honoring veterans at Veterans of Foreign Wars. Their Second Annual Welcome Back Concert will once more feature audience favorites for listeners of all ages. Guests can enjoy joyous classics such as 88 Basie Street, Shadow of your Smile, Baby it’s Cold Outside, Silver Bells, and many more tunes that will have you singing along and tapping your feet. If melodies put you in the spirit for the season, so might providing a donation.
The Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds is dedicated to supporting students with aspirations to someday pursue careers in the music industry. Just last year, the music group awarded a scholarship to a Lake Havasu High School junior for a summer music camp.
All contributions for live concerts go towards making musical dreams of the future come true. The Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds Second Annual Welcome Back Annual Concert will take place on Sunday, November 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Saint Michael’s United Methodist Church located at 2895 Jamaica Blvd South.
Band Manager and Board Member Mike Ebert of two years expressed having two reasons why being a member of such a dynamic team is such an honor. “I think it’s great that our symphony is filled with truly gifted people and also the opportunity to raise the funds so that we can provide music scholarships to the students,” Ebert said.
