Stand up for human rights

Dear Editor,

The United States has for decades strangled the Cuban people, denying them access to food, medicine, other necessities, and the ability to engage in commerce. All of this has been done in the name of “sanctions,” but they are not properly named because “sanctions” refers to actions taken by the U.N. against countries engaged in unlawful actions. Cuba has done nothing unlawful and the U.S. blockade is not U.N. sanctioned. The Cuba people have done nothing wrong. They simply have adopted a different form of government.

This past week the U.S. took its unilateral coercive economic measures to another level, prohibiting any country from selling Cuba fuel.

These actions are crimes against humanity, forbidden by international law. And they are done in our name. Citizens need to do whatever they can to disavow punishing people with different ideologies. Please, speak up and disavow these and other crimes committed in our names. Contact your Congress-people, have your local government pass resolutions denouncing them, and take the fight to the streets.

  1. The country for too long has been misled, robbed and mismanaged by previous self centered politicians. I am glad to see the change to an America first mindset. I support the sitting President. Perfect? No. No one is but this is the best America has been in 24 years. I’m for removing illegal aliens, America First policy and a return to safety and security for our citizens. The crimes against humanity have been visited on the American people through theft, unchecked immigration and crimes of all sorts. Let’s strengthen our country again and then in the future talk about helping others. That day is not today.
