Hanes takes plea in drive-by shooting event

KINGMAN – A Kingman man who fired upon another vehicle during a road rage incident last year avoided prison while drawing probation and jail time at his April 13 sentencing hearing.

Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen said probation provides a better path toward betterment than might any short prison sentence for Jordan Hanes, 23.

Attorneys said no one was wounded or hurt during the dangerous confrontation on State Route 68 on Nov. 15, 2025. Defense lawyer Christopher Donis said Hanes deeply regrets tossing water bottles, cursing and firing rounds at another vehicle during the road rage encounter.

“I reacted out of fear and in defense because I feared I was in danger,” Hanes said, adding that he knows he should have handled the matter more peacefully. “I carry this lesson with me every day.”

Hanes was convicted of aggravated assault while drive by shooting, endangerment and criminal damage charges are dismissed in his plea agreement.

Judge Jantzen ordered Hanes to engage in anger management or whatever counseling might be recommended while on probation for four years. Hanes was directed to serve 150 days in the Adult Detention Facility, and he was credited for three days spent in custody.

Hanes was ordered to forfeit the firearm involved in the offense, and to pay more than $1,600 in restitution.
