Sixteenth annual Visions of Color in the Desert show will display 150 quilts

LAKE HAVASU CITY — It’s that time of year again for the local quilt enthusiasts to cozy up with the Lake Havasu’s Stitchers Club for their 16th annual quilt show.  This year the bridge of friendship event will be titled Visions of Color in the Desert to represent the various bold tones used to create the unique artistry and dazzling creations.

It’s been over thirty years that local stitchers came together for the love quilting and forming lasting friendships. Eventually, the team became members with The Arizona Quilter Guild of Arizona.  As their memberships continued to grow, the club now has more than two hundred participants.

The group is also a nonprofit that meets every second Thursday of each month at 6pm at Mohave Community College’s Havasu location.  Attending is free for members and just $5.00 for those who just want a sneak peek about all that is involved.

The fellow stitchers gather for instruction demos and also guide each other in patchwork struggles as well as show off their distinctive quiltmaking styles.  The team is also known for their charity work throughout the community.

In 2024, the stitchery collaboration participated in making 100 quilts for the local fire department stations.  Their previous outreach has also involved donations to the elderly in local senior care facilities like Gems, Neighbors, Lakeview Terrace, and Vista Pointe.  This year will show a hundred and fifty quilts for purchase along with fourteen vendors.

Twenty-five raffle tickets will be available for purchase and six tickets out of those will be eligible for a win of the opportunity quilt.  Proceeds of the event will go towards funding the next shopping extravaganza and more local charities.  Also, the club will be issuing a $250.00 check to the Havasu Community Health Foundation.

Anyone interested in learning more about joining can do so by visiting their website at havasustitchers.com. Caroll Arcilla, who has been chair of Havasu Stitchers for the past year and a half, is proud to be a part of the group and especially experiencing and witnessing the camaraderie and support that the members provide one another.

“I just love seeing our veteran quilters dive in to assist those who are struggling.  Everyone is so friendly about it and they are all also very talented,” Arcilla said.

The Visions of the Desert Quilt show has just a $10 admission fee and will be taking place on Thursday February 5 from 12pm to 4pm and Friday February 6 from 9am to 4pm at the Aquatic Center located at 100 Park Avenue.
