School threat calls were a hoax

KINGMAN – Kingman police report a 14-year-old girl delivered threats because she did not want to be in school Monday, Aug. 12. There was no incident or injury, but Lee Williams High School was placed in a precautionary soft lockdown before the student was arrested on campus in downtown Kingman.

Deputy Police Chief Joel Freed said the girl used other student’s cell phones to call the school from class. He said she made one threat involving a bomb and another involving a shooting.

Freed said the girl was arrested at 10:40 a.m. on a felony charge of disrupting an educational facility. She was referred to the Juvenile Probation Department and also faces potential internal discipline.
