Dear Editor,
For too long, the government talked about bringing manufacturing back to America, while small businesses struggled under rising costs, red tape, and foreign competition. Today, we are taking real action to support American-made businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced a new Manufacturing in America Empower to Grow(E2G) grant initiative, offering up to $50 million in competitive grant funding to as many as 10 organizations that will provide hands-on training and technical assistance to small manufacturers across the country.
This initiative represents a serious investment in the backbone of our economy: American-made products and the American workers that produce them. Manufacturing is not just an industry; it is a national priority, a job creator, and the foundation of a resilient supply chain.
President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts have focused on creating the right conditions for small manufacturers to succeed. This includes 100% expensing for new factories, factory improvements, equipment, and research and development so that small manufacturers can invest in their business. It doubled the expensing cap for business equipment—from $1.25 million to $2.5 million, saving valuable capital they can use to hire more workers and expand.
Small manufacturers often lack access to capital, expertise to expand, and workforce development tools needed to scale up and compete; at SBA we’re taking real action to support American businesses and turn the tide. This grant helps close the gap by supporting programs that deliver practical, in-person assistance where it is needed most.
In addition, SBA recently announced a new 90% Made in America loan guarantee for small manufacturers and waived loan fees for manufacturing NAICS codes in Fiscal Year 2026, pairing stronger credit support with lower borrowing costs to help manufacturers invest, expand, and grow domestically. The average small manufacturer generates $5.4 million in annual revenue. Each year, SBA helps more than 50,000 small manufacturers start and grow their businesses.
We are seeing American manufacturing momentum return as companies reshore operations, invest in advanced manufacturing, and hire American workers. This grant accelerates that progress by ensuring small manufacturers have the tools to compete and win.
The deadline to apply is June 15, 2026, no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT. I encourage qualified organizations to apply. This is how we rebuild American manufacturing, with real action and firm investment in American workers and American industry.
