Quilt sale, raffle to benefit memorial fund

KINGMAN – Mohave Community College(MCC), 309 E. Beale St., has quilts on display and a quilt raffle to benefit the Girls Softball Scholarship Memorial Fund for Tatum Meins and Sherene Walema.  All donations will go directly to the Memorial Fund.  The quilt raffle is $5 per ticket and can be purchased anytime at MCC.  The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Arts and Crafts Sale in the Chamber of Commerce Building downtown.

Quilt maker and collector, Jan Ellwood, has decided to donate her quilts that she has collected over 30 years. She is excited to have the proceeds go to this good cause.

Quilt buyers, lovers and collectors will enjoy the many bed quilts on display. Some are modern and others vintage going back to

1910. They are made with different fabrics, including wool! Many quilts are hand appliqued, hand tied or hand quilted. Patterns include wedding ring, grandma’s flower garden, fan, star on point, t-shirt, square in square, purple floral, double butterfly, star and crazy,

thunderbird, log cabin star, crown of flowers from 1910, embroidered baskets, Amish, floral with scalloped edge, purple and green fan, baskets, vintage patchwork tied, vintage wool tied, patch work, stain glass, nine-patch with prairie points, butterfly, postage stamp, etc.  small blankets and wall hanging will also be available.

Quilts and raffle tickets will also be sold at First Friday on December 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the MCC/Chamber of Commerce Building.

Cash and checks with ID will be accepted. Quilts are $100 each. Checks are written to Tatum Meins Memorial Fund. Please call Denise for more information at 928-530-8072.
