Public health surveys, clean up day discussed at LHC council

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Tuesday, March 26 City Council meeting was the first gathering at the new Lake Havasu courthouse at 92 Acoma Boulevard South.

In honor of Women’s History Month, the city’s report shared that the first inaugural flag was hung at Mohave Community College. The mayor attended this event, and the flag is now being displayed at the campus’s special interest flagpole which is located between buildings five hundred and six hundred.

It was also announced that 253 teens participated in the city’s teen break event that occurred Tuesday, March 19 to Thursday, March 21. The three-day activity fueled event was for grades six through 12. Monetary donations were received at the event that added up to $10,000 from Fraternal Order of Eagles, Havasu Lions FC, and many other local organizations.

Information on an update of the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day event was revealed. This is a day that is usually scheduled each December. Now, the city is making event a biannual occasion. The first one is to take place this spring on Thursday April 20th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fire Station # 2. This is a free event hosted by Republic Services. More information can be obtained by calling 928-505-7410.

Dani Lagana of Mohave County Department of Public Health paid a visit to the meeting to share health community surveys. This survey is intended to gain citizen opinions on health improvements. Community input is needed as it is used as a tool to provide funding from nonprofits, it’s also a way to share health needs with the government. Normally, the assessments have a deadline of the end of March however, this year it has been extended to the end of April. These surveys can be accessed by visiting www.Mohave.gov by way of the link in the yellow box at the bottom of the page. Health opinions will also be gathered in person through focus groups this May. Anyone wanting to participate can contact Lagana directly at 928-753-0748 ext 4521 or by emailing lagand@mohave.gov.  Check out updates of future meetings by visiting https://www.lhcaz.gov/mayor-city-council.
