MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ. — The Mohave County Recorder’s Office announces that the new photo identification requirements established under Arizona Senate Bill 1479 are now fully in effect. Individuals submitting documents in person for recording must provide a valid photo ID unless the submission qualifies for an exemption under state law.
The Recorder’s Office began requesting photo identification on August 3, ahead of the law’s effective date, to allow customers and staff time to become familiar with the new process.
“Our office chose to begin implementing this requirement early so our customers would have time to adjust, and our staff could ensure a smooth transition,” said Mohave County Recorder Lydia Henry. “Now that the requirement is fully in effect, we remind anyone coming into our office to record a document to bring valid photo identification.”
The Recorder’s Office does not retain a copy of the identification. The type of identification, name and identification number are documented as required by law and are not public records. The law provides exemptions for certain entities, including escrow offices, title insurance agents or insurers, qualifying banks and credit unions, active members of the State Bar of Arizona, and governmental entities. SB 1479 strengthens protections surrounding real property records and helps combat deed and property fraud. Effective September 11, 2026: Bring valid photo identification when submitting documents for recording in person.
