One dead in three-vehicle crash

MOHAVE VALLEY – An elderly Bullhead City woman was dead at the scene of a three-vehicle traffic incident in Mohave Valley. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) said a GMC pickup truck was southbound at a high rate of speed on Highway 95 when it rear-ended a Dodge caravan at 11:34 a.m. on Jan. 20 at milepost 239.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the GMC struck a raised median, causing a road sign to strike a Ford Escape. Graves said the driver of the Escape was not hurt and that the driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries.

Graves identified the partially ejected passenger of the GMC who was killed as Juana Orantez, 80. He said the at-fault driver of the GMC was critically injured and transported to a hospital in Las Vegas.

Graves aid impairment is a suspected accident factor under investigation.
