No injuries in kitchen fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY – At approximately 3:25 p.m. on Monday, September 23, a homeowner, from the 3600 block of Pontchartrain Drive reported a fire on the stove from a burning candle. The occupant put out the fire with a garden hose prior to Lake Havasu City Fire Department’s arrival. The occupants evacuated the residence safely. The first arriving fire company reported smoke coming from the back of the casita. Four engine companies, one truck company, and one battalion chief responded to the fire. Fire crews verified the fire was out and had not extended into the attic. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene an additional hour conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire was an unattended candle.
