Mushroom growing couple enters plea

Interior of courtroom

KINGMAN – A second defendant in a hallucinogenic mushroom grow and sales investigation in Kingman has entered a plea agreement. Justin Porter, 45, and his former girlfriend Nancy Fournier, 45, were both arrested following a Nov., 2024 search of the residence they shared in the 2700 block of Pasadena Avenue.

Officers reportedly found mushrooms growing in the master bedroom closet and harvested strains of mushrooms in various stages of production within the home. Authorities said the search produced seizure of illegal mushrooms contained in a 32 oz. Jar.

Attorneys have also said that text messages featuring incriminating comments regarding prices and other sales related communications involving mushrooms were found in the contents of Fournier’s cell phone.

Porter pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs during a Jan. 6 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle. He is eligible for probation but could also get a prison term of up to five years at a Feb. 6 sentencing hearing.

Fournier previously pleaded guilty to attempted possession of dangerous drugs for sale. Fournier was given a 20-day jail sentence and was placed on probation for four years.
