Mohave County Probation Officer Sara Colbert selected as Supervisor of the Year

MOHAVE COUNTY – Deputy Probation Officer Senior Sara Colbert has been selected by the Arizona Chief Probation Officers’ Association as the winner of the Supervisor of the Year Award.  Colbert was selected from probation supervisor nominees representing all counties across the State of Arizona.  Colbert currently serves as the Juvenile Treatment Supervisor and has been instrumental in developing Project AIM (evening reporting center), influential on the Juvenile Specialty Courts, in addition to managing juvenile treatment services and budget.  Colbert has worked diligently over the past year to develop conference presentations for the American Probation and Parole Association and National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges garnering both national and state attention for Project AIM.  Josh Frisby, Director of Juvenile Court Services, said he appreciated that other probation leaders across the state also recognize Colbert’s talent, contributions, and accomplishments.  Sara was nominated by Deputy Director Natalie Eggers whose nomination is below.

Sara Colbert is not only a leader, but she is also a visionary. Sara sees a future with a better tomorrow for our staff, our youth, and their families. As the treatment supervisor, Sara was the keystone to creating our evening reporting center, Project AIM (Aspire, Instill, Motivate). This program has provided families with counseling through the Strengthening Families Program and youth have received job readiness, CPR certification, food handler’s cards, life-skills, and are exposed to relevant knowledge on Minor Victims of Sex Trafficking and how to identify their support system through Kids at Hope. Most importantly, this venue provides a safe and fun space for kids to be kids.

Sara’s knowledge in specialty courts, juvenile detention initiatives, law-related education, evidence-based programming, and risk-based assessments make her an ambassador for the field of Probation, an advocate for the treatment of youth, as well as a mentor for up and coming staff and her peers. Sara’s servant leadership style is contagious. Sara fights for youth and inspires her staff to embrace her vision to provide kids a retreat from their trauma and daily stressors.”

Colbert is a deserving recipient of this award and recognition for her accomplishments highlights some of the great work being done by the Courts and Probation Department in Mohave County.
