Mohave County Board of Supervisors issues statement on DPS helicopter crash

KINGMAN — The Mohave County Board of Supervisors extends its sincere condolences following the tragic loss of two Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) personnel in a helicopter crash on the evening of February 4, 2026, near Flagstaff.

According to DPS, a Bell 407 helicopter, Ranger 56, was dispatched from Kingman to assist with an incident when the aircraft went down. A DPS State Trooper paramedic and the pilot were fatally injured. DPS officials have advised that the names of the deceased have not yet been formally released.

“The Mohave County Board of Supervisors extends its deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident,” said Board Chairman Travis Lingenfelter. “We stand with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and with first responders across the state as they mourn this loss and continue their critical work serving our communities.”

In honor of those who lost their lives, Chairman Lingenfelter has directed the County staff to lower flags to halfstaff at Mohave County buildings.
