Mohave College Early College student earns college credits towards nursing degree

MOHAVE COUNTY – Alyssa Hild, is a student at Mohave College through the Early College program and she’s also a senior at Telesis Preparatory Academy. She’s currently working on earning her high school diploma while working toward finishing up her prerequisite courses to be able to apply to the nursing program.

Hild decided to start her higher educational journey at Mohave College because she was provided the opportunity to get ahead in her college courses while still in high school.

“The thought of being able to start classes while finishing high school, to save time and then to be able to simultaneously save money, when I heard that I knew I had to utilize this opportunity while it was available,” she said.

Not only has she been happy to have taken this step to further her education but so has her father. As a parent, Alan J. Hild, carries great pride that his daughter started her college courses in her junior year, and has done will in her success to earn a college degree while still in high school.

“I would strongly urge parents to get their student involved in this program and the advantages it offers their child, including the opportunity to finish their college education early and move forward into their chosen career,” he said.

Throughout the program she has had the guidance of advisors helping her decide what classes she needs, informing her about different clubs and scholarships. Her instructors have helped her navigate college with confidence by always being there to answer questions or provide guidance.

Attending Mohave, Hild has been able to build relationships with people and reach her educational goals, while also helping her concentrate on her academic goals.

She said Mohave has provided her with the opportunity to reach her goals sooner through the Early College program by completing her prerequisite courses before graduating high school, and has eased the financial burden.

After she earns her Associate of Science in Nursing, she plans to continue her education to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Arizona. Then pursue any other higher education degrees needed to reach her ultimate career goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.

Hild decided to pursue an education and career in the medical field because she felt a calling after having to go through a few surgeries. The experience provided her with a broader perspective of the field and has since motivated her to work in it one day.

On her free time, Hild, enjoys spending time outdoors, going to concerts and volunteering at her local church.

Registration for the fall 2026 semester opens Feb. 17. Enrollment for the summer semester is currently open, so sign up for classes before they fill up. To learn more about Mohave College’s Early College program, visit Mohave.edu/Early-College.
