Mission Bank acquisition pending

MOHAVE COUNTY – A Yuma financial institution’s acquisition of Mission Bank in Kingman and Bullhead City won’t be completed until next summer. Vice President Chris Bolin said the Avenir Financial Credit Union hopes the transaction will be completed next June.

“Upon closing, Mission Bank locations will be updated to the Avenir Financial brand,” Bolin said, in response to media inquiry.

“The $385-million Avenir Financial FCU here has agreed to acquire $195-million Mission Bank,” Avenir legal counsel Luse Gorman said in a news release issued from Yuma on May 30.

Mission Bank checks and debit cards will remain functional while the acquisition is pending. Customer communications will occur ahead of the transition, and before updated Avenir-branded checks and debit cards are issued.

Bolin said Mission Bank customers can look forward to enhanced digital banking, broader lending options and products designed to promote financial freedom and growth.

Mission Bank employs 34 people at its two branches in Kingman and one in Bullhead City. Bolin said it’s too early to comment on staffing and leadership roles for its branches in northwest Arizona.

“We are excited to welcome Mission Bank employees, customers and communities into Avenir,” Bolin said. “We look forward to carrying forward the deep customer relationships that exist today and expanding the local commitment to the people and businesses rooted in the communities served by Mission Bank.”
