Mental health support available for at-risk first responders, families

MOHAVE COUNTY – The 100 Club of Arizona is introducing two new wellness apps to help first responders and their families with their physical and mental health during this time of crisis.

The Kingman Police Department and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office have signed on to participate in the new app.

The Bulletproof app is available now free of charge for all sworn officers and professional staff on any Apple or Android device, while the Fireproof app is for all sworn firefighters, fire department staff and family members and will be available soon through App Store and Google Play.

These apps offer resources such as: My Agency’s Resources,Personal Wellness, Mental Health, Physical Fitness & Health, Financial Wellness, Substance Use & Addiction, Self-Assessments, Peer Support, Find a Therapist, Chaplains, and Family & Relationship Support.

“In spring of 2019, we received a generous grant from the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation which allowed us to overhaul our wellness programs,” says Angela Harrolle, CEO of the 100 Club of Arizona. “Their support opened the door for the 100 Club to hire a position solely focused on enhancing the reach and scope. Just a few months later, APEX Mobile was selected as our partner to start redevelopment of Bulletproof, which was web-based at the time, into a mobile app including the addition of Fireproof.”

“Our Programs Manager hit the ground running by enlisting the guidance and assistance of many first responders and helping professionals as key stakeholders. Holding various stakeholder meetings, attending first responder wellness trainings, observing activities such as first responder yoga and guidance from national subject matter experts laid the foundation.

The direction and assistance we received from our first responders and those who work closest with them is ultimately what makes the Bulletproof and Fireproof Wellness Mobile Apps an invaluable resource,” Harrolle continued.
