BULLHEAD CITY – Since 2009, they have placed over 500 animals into loving forever homes and have spayed and neutered over 3,000 pets. Saving Animals in Need Together (SAINT) has created a medical emergency fund, raising and spending approximately $30,000 to $40,000 annually to help animals recover from life-threatening situations in hopes of leading them to long, happy lives.

BHC SAINT organization was founded by Jeanne Brook and Sue DeMarco in 2009, when one of the founders, Jeanne, had seen photos of a young, healthy Pit Bull being euthanized in, at that time, the high-kill Bullhead City Animal Shelter.

With this, Jeanne and Sue began accepting donations and support, eventually leading them to become an official 501(C)3 non-profit program, making it possible for them to “improve the lives of animals.”

Spaying and neutering results in a healthier, longer life span in many ways, including the prevention of certain cancers in males and females. Additionally, when donation funds were available, SAINT would provide financial assistance to pet owners to help cover the cost of the spay or neuter surgeries.

The current president of BHC SAINT, President Donna Doyel expresses, “I am honored to be a part of this amazing organization alongside other dedicated volunteers. We have accomplished so much, but there is always more to do, and we will be there to support our communities and their pets.” SAINT was recently recognized as one of the Final Four for the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce Community Achievement Awards under the category of Social Service Organization Award. Winners will be announced on November 2.

SAINT is 100% volunteer-foster-based and is funded solely by donations from communities, businesses, and fundraising events.

BHC SAINT has had the honor of partnering with other local animal non-profits such as We Care for Animals BHC, Pet Angel Foundation, and Food 4 Paws to offer special events to Bullhead City citizens. This includes a Pet Resource Fair held last Spring to offer information, pet food, and pet supplies all for free to the community.

SAINT has multiple programs that serve the surrounding communities.

Raymond Hilton Fund provides $50 vouchers toward spaying and neutering for dogs and cats. The Saving Lives Program holds foster foster programs and foster-to-adopt programs which allows us to pull at-risk animals from the shelter and place them in a home.

When fostering for SAINT, all expenses are paid. In return, the foster provides a loving and secure home. The Ron Jenner Pet Medical Emergency Fund assists pet owners with paying for urgent life-saving medical care and procedures to save the lives of their companion animals.

Currently, SAINT is partnered with the Pet Angel Foundation and the Humane Society of Mohave County Animal Medical Center to introduce a special spay program for female dogs and cats. This program will greatly reduce the cost of spay surgeries. In conjunction, SAINT’s $50 vouchers are still available for neuters of male dogs and cats.
