Laughlin, Bullhead Chambers issue joint scam warning

BULLHEAD CITY/LAUGHLIN —The Laughlin Chamber of Commerce and the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce are warning local businesses and the general public about a series of fraudulent solicitations claiming to offer “verified” chamber contact lists for sale.

These scams falsely suggest they have access to confidential member data—including names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, job titles, and more—and often demand payment in exchange for the list. These offers are completely illegitimate.

“We do not sell or distribute our member contact information—ever,” the organizations said in a joint statement.

“We’ve seen a recent uptick in these kinds of scams, and it’s important for the business community to understand they are completely false,” said Carrie Larson, Executive Director of the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce. “These bad actors are attempting to profit off our trusted names. Don’t fall for it.”

“Scammers, including some based offshore, are getting bolder, often posing as marketing representatives or data brokers,” added Bo Hellams, President and CEO of the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce. “If you receive any unsolicited messages claiming to offer chamber contact lists, delete them immediately.”

What you should know:

• Neither chamber sells or shares private member data.

• No third-party is authorized to distribute any chamber-affiliated contact lists.

• Emails or calls offering such lists are scams.

What to do if you’re contacted:

• Do not respond.

• Do not click any links or attachments.

• Mark the message as spam or phishing.

• Report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov.

Both chambers say they are committed to protecting the privacy of our members and preserving the trust that our organizations have built in the Colorado River Valley.
