Land bought for new office building

A developer is purchasing land to build a new office to house state employees who work in two older offices in downtown Kingman. Harrison Properties Vice President Jeff Dalton said the transaction securing ownership of a 4.55-acre parcel between Kenneth and Adams on Airway Avenue will close in mid-May.

Dalton said plans will soon be submitted seeking a building permit for the proposed construction of a 40,000 sq. ft. office on the vacant lot. Sun State Builders of Phoenix will be the contractor.

Dalton said the new building should be ready for occupancy next February. About 75 Department of Economic Security and Department of Child Services employees will relocate from downtown offices located at 310 Pine St. and 519 Beale St.

The project site was selected after there was previous consideration of placement on Western Avenue and at another location on Airway Avenue.
