KRMC’s Manley named Preceptor of the Year

KINGMAN – On Monday, April 27, The American Academy of PAs (AAPA) honored local physician assistant (PA) Kurtis Manley with the Preceptor of the Year Award.

A preceptor instructs PA students in the clinical evaluation and treatment of patients.

The Preceptor of the Year Award honors preceptors who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the clinical education of PA students as a mentor and instructor. A committee of AAPA members and representatives from the Physician Assistant Education Association selects award winners.

Throughout his career, Manley has precepted more than 100 students. Fellow KRMC PA Kaylee Herrero largely credits Manley with her decision to join the KRMC health system, saying, “He played an instrumental role in my training and served as an excellent role model as a provider.”

Kurtis Manley has practiced as a physician assistant for 20 years. Upon graduating from Kingman High School, he joined the United States Navy. He served 26 years of active duty, during which he obtained his master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Manley has received multiple awards for his dedication as a provider and a preceptor – in 2017 he was named Outstanding Civilian PA of the Year by The Veteran’s Caucus of the AAPA. In 2019, the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants honored him with the Physician/Physician Assistant Partnership of the Year Award.
