Kino, Airway Avenue closure, restrictions next week in Kingman

KINGMAN – Beginning Monday, September 30 at 9 a.m., Kino Avenue will be closed from Kenneth Road through Willow Rd. until October 17. The Willow Rd. intersection will remain open during this time.

The project to install a new water transmission main on Kino Ave., between Arizona Street to the Mohave Wash, started August 12. Portions of Kino Ave. will be closed throughout the project, and detours will be in place for street closures.

The contractor, Freiday Construction, is working with residents in the area regarding notification, but no water service delays or disruptions are scheduled to take place.

This project is the continuation of a multi-phased project to improve water delivery to city water storage tanks that will allow our infrastructure run more efficiently, resulting in an overall benefit to our customers. The total cost for the project is $1.38 million.

The project should last roughly 90 days, over multiple phases for line installation and pavement patching.

Also beginning Monday, September 30 at 8 p.m., Airway Avenue will have restricted travel lanes all week, with night work being performed. Contractors will be doing underground utility work, with the construction of the new Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) building on Airway Ave. Contractors ask motorists to obey slower speed limits throughout the construction zone, as well as the lane restrictions and slower speeds on side streets, also.

At 8 p.m. Monday September 30, the right travel eastbound lane of Airway Ave. will be restricted to one lane the entire week. Complete lane shifts will take place in the evening hours, when the underground utility work is being performed.

The work is scheduled to last roughly one week, barring any weather delays.

Questions regarding the work should be directed to Phil Booth with Tri-Suns Engineering at 928-716-0621.

Up-to-date street closures will be located on the City of Kingman’s engineering website page of interactive Maps through the city’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS): https://www.cityofkingman.gov/government/departments/engineering/gis
