KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is proud to announce its selection as an official digital stop on the National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities. This national initiative celebrates NLC’s century-long commitment to strengthening local government and advocating for the needs of cities, towns, and villages across the United States. “We are thrilled and deeply honored to have been chosen,” said Mayor Ken Watkins. “This is a remarkable opportunity to showcase our unwavering dedication to our community, our rich history, and the strength that binds us together.”
On November 4th, Kingman will participate in the NLC’s digital showcase which will highlight the city’s vibrant culture and rich history with Route 66. Participation will occur across their social media platforms and centennial website. The digital stop will feature the annual I ♥66 Fest, which celebrates the history and culture of Route 66. As part of the showcase that day, the city will highlight the Kingman Leaning Route 66 Shield. This new photo-op landmark, revealed at the recent I ♥ 66 Fest, is a testament to the city’s commitment to preserving and promoting its unique cultural heritage. It can be seen at the Lewis Kingman Park, a historic park that is one of Arizona’s few shady rest stops along the Mother Road.
The NLC Centennial Roadshow launched in February to spotlight the diversity, resilience, and transformation of municipalities across the country. Over the past year, the roadshow has showcased the stories of more than 100 of America’s local communities and their contributions to the nation’s progress.
