Kingman City Council adopts new city logo

KINGMAN – Through a virtual, unanimous vote, the Kingman City Council adopted a new logo for the city last night. The new logo will be rolled out in phases across the city, and the community should start seeing it in places almost immediately. The process of designing the new logo for adoption took months of work by team members in multiple departments working alongside GEO, an Arizona-based marketing firm. Many stake-holder meetings took place, as well as input from local community groups.

Kingman Mayor Jen Miles said, “This logo looks like the Kingman I think of when driving into the city – the mountains, the Mother Road, the sun and the southwestern colors. I hope everyone feels an affinity with the logo as a place called home as well as the invitation to explore and enjoy our beautiful city.”

The city is looking forward to sharing the new logo with local businesses and community members for their use on materials. In research that took place, while designing the logo, stakeholders felt the city needed a logo that represented what most folks recognize, as Route 66 being an integral part of our community.

As a reminder, the July 7, City Council meeting will be held virtually as well, as the city continues to take the necessary steps to continue to protect City Council members, its residents, and city team members to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. The City of Kingman is conducting the Tuesday, June 16, and July 7, 2020, formal City Council meetings virtually, with the ability for submitted public comment.

Meeting policy, and public comment guidelines for all virtual meetings are listed below:

·    Per the ongoing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), no more than 10 people should be gathered at the same time, therefore no Council or Commission meetings are taking place in the Council Chambers.

·    Please indicate the item number on the agenda you are commenting on. The emails/written statements will be provided to council/commissioners in a .pdf for them to review, and the list of names and topics that were submitted will be read. A copy of all submissions in their entirety will be attached to the minutes and made a part of public record.

·    Regarding upcoming public hearings at the July 7, virtual meetings: residents wishing to comment on any of the public hearings must contact the city clerk’s office, no later than 9:00 a.m. on the day of that meeting (July 7 Council meeting). Comments will be accepted in written and standard audio format (.wav or .mp4). Audio comments must be under 3 minutes in length and can be submitted to the city clerk or deputy city clerk by email: cityclerk@cityofkingman.gov, or by dropping them off to the clerk’s office located at 310 N. 4th Street.

·    City Clerk hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

·    As in the past, residents can watch the Council and/or Commissions meetings live streamed at youtube.com/cityofkingman or Cable Channel 4
