Kay Holden Prince

Kay Holden Prince passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at Flagstaff Medical Center. She is survived by her beloved husband Charles, children Michele and Michael, granddaughter Peyton and several dear cousins.

Kay was born Oct. 20, 1945 in Dundee, Scotland to William and Elizabeth Holden.

Her love of athletics and adventures began as a child and continued throughout her life. She recalled “normal” rainy, cold mornings on her way to school, taking a short cut through an ancient graveyard. She said while “all that hopping and jumping from one grave to another” likely didn’t help her knees long term – it certainly honed her long-jumping and basketball skills.

When she was 18, Kay was part of a championship basketball team in Dundee. Although she was passionate about playing basketball and netball, Kay had other plans. She told her coach she would not be able to play in the championship tournament in Spain because she was coming to America!

Kay arrived in Santa Monica, California in 1964 and worked for an incredible year as a nanny for actors Robert Lansing and wife Emily McLaughlin. She wanted to venture on her own; she and a couple of girlfriends rented an apartment. Kay then worked at the local telephone company. This was a “wonderful job and an exciting time” and she shared many humorous stories. She was assigned to split work shifts which allowed an extra blessing to enjoy glorious daily beach time. A coworker taught her to crochet; this was the start of several lifelong hobbies.

Kay and her family moved to Golden Valley, Arizona in 1977. It was at this time she and the kids began attending Golden Valley Baptist Church. She was a lifelong member. Kay experienced much joy over the years serving in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She loved helping children learn to love Jesus. She met her husband Charles at the church and they were wed nearly 30 years.

Charles and Kay had many adventures together. One of her favorites “of all time” was a trip they took to Monument Valley. She spoke about the horse ride and the spectacular scenery that reminded them both of their shared love of the desert, old western movies and television shows.

She worked decades in the health care professions in Kingman, including working at The Gardens in the 1980s, and in the 1990s and 2000s in Radiology administrative and ultrasound technology at Kingman Regional Medical Center.

Kay will be dearly missed, but we know she is with our Heavenly Father.

The family held a private ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery in Kingman. A Celebration of Life will be held at Golden Valley Baptist Church, 100 S. Higley Road, Golden Valley, AZ on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m.
