Justice for Maverick protest on December 19

To the Editor,

My name is Hannah Corkins. I am a mother, a veteran, and a resident of Kingman who believes our community must do far more to protect our children. I am writing to inform the public about an upcoming Justice for Maverick protest, which will take place on:

 December 19, 2025
 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
 401 E. Spring Street, Kingman, AZ 86401
Mohave County Courthouse & Jail Public Sidewalk

This protest coincides with the sentencing in a horrific child abuse case involving a three-week-old infant who suffered extensive injuries including fractures, bruising, and hemorrhaging while the adults responsible failed to seek timely medical attention or call 911 on the abuse. Even more concerning is that individuals who were aware of the abuse have not been fully investigated or charged. Under Arizona law, knowingly allowing a child to remain in dangerous conditions is a crime. Yet in this case, accountability has been inconsistent, and justice has fallen short.

Our community cannot look the other way. This peaceful protest aims to stand up for children who cannot speak for themselves and to demand that Mohave County treat child abuse cases with the seriousness they deserve. Too many offenders receive plea deals or reduced sentences that do not reflect the severity of the harm they inflict. We need stronger protections, better enforcement, and a justice system that puts children first.

This event is family-friendly, peaceful, and open to anyone who believes Kingman’s children deserve better. Together, we can raise awareness, call for real accountability, and push for change that protects every child in our community.

Sincerely,
Hannah Corkins

  1. Kingman needs to become aware of illegal animal breeding and the abuse to dogs and cats everywhere. Laws need to be enforced for any kind of abuse to animals and make it more difficult for people to register as a breeder. Anyone who does get caught breeding animals goes to jail and pays fines. I am so sick of seeing people wanting to re-home their pets and this is not acceptable. These people also need to be put in jail because in my eyes that’s also a form of abuse. You don’t get rid of your kid, husband or wife like that do you? You get an animal you look at the long term picture not just dumping it because of lame excuses.
