Havasu man charged in domestic violence incident

LAKE HAVASU CITY — A Lake Havasu City man faces prosecution following a violent incident with a woman at a home in the 3500 block of Desert Garden Drive. The alleged victim called police after retreating to her bedroom on April 8.

A police report indicates that Joseph Dorman, 59, denied that any encounter had occurred when he answered the door for arriving officers. The woman provided a different account when she exited the home and spoke with police outside.

The report said officers observed blood on her lip, arm and clothes and redness about her chest and shoulders. She claimed Dorman choked, punched and threatened to kill her following an argument in the living room.

Dorman reportedly told officers the woman might have hurt herself during a fall “because she falls all the time.”

The alleged victim indicated that the pair have a history of violence but that Dorman had never choked her before. She indicated her version of events could be verified by an audio recording.

The police report indicated the audio reveals sounds of a skirmish and that Dorman can be heard threatening to kill the woman on multiple occasions.

“I’m going to put a bullet in your head,” he allegedly said. “I’ve had enough of you.”

Dorman was arrested on April 9, the day after the incident. He was jailed for three assault-related counts, though the charges could change through the potential indictment process.
