LAKE HAVASU CITY – Each year, the community comes together to create treasured holiday memories. Last week Lake Havasu City invited all local residents to the 21st Annual Community Christmas Dinner.

The occasion took place on Friday, December 13 at the Aquatic Center. Mayor Sheehy along with all city council members, served the public a traditional Christmas buffet style dinner.

For two decades, the annual meal has grown with over a thousand guests in attendance each year. Board members dedicated their time and smiles to ensure the happening went smoothly, but they also had help.

The turkeys served were donated by local nonprofits the London Bridge Rotary Club, Kiwanis, Daybreakers Lions Club, and Sunrise Rotary Club. The food was prepared by World Master Chef Christopher Gallaga along with members of the Western Arizona Vocational District and culinary students.

Two attendance options were offered. There was an early bird serving at 4 p.m. and another at 6 p.m. The holiday meal was a delicious combination of turkey, potatoes, ham, vegetables, dinner rolls, stuffing, and pumpkin pie for dessert, that is, if you could squeeze it in.

Drinks were donated by Lake Havasu Firefighter Charities and even Santa Claus along with nonprofit River Riders Motorcyclye Club, paid a visit, delivering toys for all the children. The free dinner is not just for the community, it’s also the city’s way of thanking the many volunteers that make this special event possible.
