KINGMAN – Another defendant nabbed in a multi-agency investigation of the trafficking of firearms and drugs entered a mandatory prison plea agreement at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center Monday.
Richard Hanson, 53, Golden Valley, is one of 15 suspects arrested in the “Operation Mohave Typewriter” case during an early August suspect roundup, following a 9-month undercover investigation. In addition to the arrests, authorities said the operation also produced seizure of 32.5 pounds of methamphetamine, one gram of fentanyl powder, 26 40mm grenades and 28 firearms, including three fully automatic weapons and a ghost gun.
Hanson pleaded guilty to burglary and traffic in stolen property.
Deputy Mohave County attorney Phillip Delgado said Hanson stole five weapons from a Golden Valley home in April. He said Hanson and co-defendant David Baker, 52, Golden Valley, sold an undercover agent a “Tommy“ submachine gun for $16,000 on April 30.
Baker faces up to 8.75-years in prison when sentenced November 18 after pleading guilty to a trafficking charge last month. Terms of the Hanson deal require Judge Derek Carlisle to order a 15-year prison term during a December 2 sentencing hearing.
