Golden Valley house fire claims kids

GOLDEN VALLEY – Two deaths and multiple serious injuries are reported in a Golden Valley house fire. Authorities responded at 12:25 a.m. to the blaze in the 4800 block of N. Elgin road.

Mohave County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said three adults and five children were in the home when it caught fire. “Two female children, ages 4 and 11, were located deceased inside the residence after the fire was extinguished,” she said.

Mortensen said a mother and father, a male roommate and a child were in critical condition following transport to a Las Vegas hospital. “Another child was hospitalized for observation with no injuries and the remaining child involved escaped the fire with no injuries,” Mortensen said.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
