The book of Psalms comes to a close by calling on all of humanity to praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” How beautiful and awe inspiring that great choir would sound if it came to fruition. Think about it. Stop what you’re doing briefly and imagine. Clanging cymbals, the tenors singing “Hallelujah” to the Lamb of God, who now reigns from His heavenly throne. Imagine the deep bass voices capturing the attention of the heavenly messengers, as the earthly choir joins in, singing that sweet historical hymn of Amazing Grace. “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.”
Of course, fallen men will never join in with praise to God at all. The Bible declares that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Men left in their natural state will not give thanks to God. The Bible is clear that all humanity is the enemy of Holy God. In the title of the song we have read, is the word “grace.” It is only through the amazing grace of God that man can be forgiven of sin, and return to commune with God once again.
Grace is sometimes defined as, “God’s unmerited favor,” meaning you don’t deserve it and it’s an impossibility for man to earn it. In a world that thinks money can buy everything, you cannot buy God’s grace. The Bible declares that God’s grace is a free gift, including repentance and faith. A gift always comes and is initiated by the giver, to which the true believer praises God. Salvation is available for those that are willing to come to Christ. The son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, as His word proclaims. The promise is for those willing to come to Christ is found here, in John 6:37, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” What a glorious promise! Christ saves and keeps those who come! That is praiseworthy my friends.
It’s when men and women experience this inexhaustible grace, they will gladly join their brothers and sisters around the globe, singing praises to their heavenly King. God is incomprehensible, but within the heart of every man He has placed the desire to worship. So, come to Christ and worship the Incomprehensible God who has created all things for His pleasure. If it’s your desire to know the truth in a world full of deception and evil, join me Sunday morning at 10:45.
Remember the old saying, “sometimes the truth is hard to swallow?” That’s true. But what’s always true is “the truth will set you free.” Jesus Christ is the truth!
