Fort Mohave man enters guilty plea for stabbing former partner

Interior of courtroom

KINGMAN — A Fort Mohave man who stabbed his former partner while on probation for previously assaulting her entered a plea agreement in Kingman on Thursday, October 30. Terms of the deal require a 19.25-year prison term as punishment for Wesley Millican, 41.

Millican had been placed on probation for attempted aggravated assault and released from jail on July 14, two days before he attacked the same victim, a 43-year old woman who is the mother of their child.

Deputy Mohave County attorney Karolina Czaplinska said Millican entered the victim‘s home at 1732 E. La Entrada Drive on July 16. She told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen that the woman was holding, but dropped their nine-month-old baby when Millican drove a knife through her neck.

Defense attorney Jonathan Robinson advised the Court that the infant was not harmed during the incident.

The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital before she was flown to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for treatment.

The Mohave County Sheriff‘s Office (MCSO) said Millican barricaded himself inside the home, but eventually surrendered following response by officers from multiple law enforcement agencies. The MCSO said Millican was treated at Valley View Medical Center for self-inflicted injuries.

Millican pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder and endangerment. The plea deal dismissed two aggravated assault counts and a burglary charge.

Terms involve 16 years imprisonment for the stabbing, 2.25 years placing the baby at risk and another year for violating probation. Judge Jantzen scheduled a November 14 sentencing hearing.
