First-time candidates lead supervisor race

MOHAVE COUNTY – Three first time candidates for Mohave County Supervisor lead their republican party contests Wednesday morning. Tuesday primary election tallies are preliminary and unofficial with ballot processing to continue for a number of days.

State senator Sonny Borrelli is on his way to unseating District 3 incumbent Buster Johnson, first elected to the board in 1996. Borrelli has more than 69% of the vote and leads Johnson by 2,598 (4,663-2,065).

Rich Lettman and Don Martin lead closer battles in the GOP contests in supervisoral districts 2 and 4. Lettman is 146 votes ahead of Grace Hecht in District 2, followed by Scotty McClure (1,916, 1,770 and 876).

Don Martin has a 196 vote lead in the most crowded field in District 4:
