The pet community is begging everyone not to take their pets to a shelter out of fear that they spread or transmit this strain of Corona Virus.
According to the CDC, “there is no evidence that companion animals, including pets, can spread the CoronaVirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) or that they might be a source of infection in the United States.”
There is a lot of misinformation being spread about Corona Virus in pets, particularly on social media. There is a Corona Virus strain that affects cats and dogs but neither of these strains is communicable to humans. Any questions regarding your pets’ health should be discussed with your veterinarian.
LOCAL UPDATES AND CANCELLATIONS:
- All vaccination clinics at Bullhead Animal Care and Welfare and Tractor Supply have been suspended until further notice.
- As of 3/21/20: All PetSmart Pet Adoptions have been cancelled until further notice.
- As of 3/22/20: Risen Star Kennel in Bullhead City remains open for Boarding, training and retail dog food sales. Grooming services are still available at this time. The company IS following CDC Recommendations to protect staff and clients.
- H.A.L.T. has cancelled all pet adoption events until further notice. Contact the rescue directly for information on adopting or fostering a pet.
- North Valley Pet Hospital in Fort Mohave is still open but has implemented new procedures to help protect their staff and pet owners.
- Keepers of the Wild Wildlife Park in Valentine remains open, is sure to clean and sanitize everything and asks that if you or a loved one is feeling sick, that you postpone your visit to the park.
Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic in Kingman is still open. They have implemented a curb-side service for veterinary services and home delivery via their website for medication.
