Father, son charged in Golden Valley homicide

GOLDEN VALLEY – Two arrests are reported in an Aug. 2 homicide in Golden Valley. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) had been looking for murder suspect Kenneth Carter, 36, and his father Kenneth Carter Sr., 58, both of Golden Valley, when alerted both men were at a Highway 68 business and wanted to turn themselves in, nearly 15 hours after the deadly violence was reported.

“Deputies and detectives responded to the location and transported the men for interviews,” said MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Both men were arrested and transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.”

The younger Carter was jailed for first degree murder while his father was booked for hindering prosecution.

Mortensen said deputies responding to a report of a shooting at 12:43 a.m. located the victim dead at the scene at his home in the 3800 block of Diabase Dr. He is identified as David Roberts, 41.

No motive was provided, and the slaying remains under investigation.
