
KINGMAN – Sunday, March 8, at 3:00 p.m., at Kingman a Presbyterian Church (2425 Detroit Ave), Kingman Concert Band will be in concert, performance titled, “Echoes of Childhood.” The 75 minute performance is free and open to the public and will feature a variety of selections taking the audience back to their youth.
“The Kingman Concert Band has provided free performances to the greater Kingman area for over twenty years. The ensemble of volunteer musicians rehearse once a week for 90 minutes in the band room of Kingman Middle School. The Kingman Concert Bands season typically consists of four performances each year featuring traditional and contemporary band music. Concerts are always free and open to the public, much in part as a result of our community partners such as Kingman Presbyterian Church, Stetson Winery and the City of Kingman’s Parks and Recreation Department,” says Julie Gragg, Conductor of the Kingman Concert Band.
The band currently has nearly 30 musicians comprised of volunteers from all walks of life. This 501(c) 3 non-profit organization solely relies on the generosity of corporate and individual donations in addition to a well supported music scholarship program generating twenty new selections to the bands library. All funds raised go towards operational expenses and purchase of sheet music.
Monday, March 9, Kingman’s Panda Express restaurant will also be holding a fundraiser from 10am-10pm to benefit the concert bands endeavors to offer free concerts to the greater Kingman area. A fundraiser flier, digital or hard copy, is required.
