Drug transporter gets two days jail time

KINGMAN – Plea agreements have been employed to quickly resolve a unique drug bust that occurred in Kingman last fall. The Oct. 26, 2025 traffic stop produced the seizure of a large supply of products that are used to ingest the active ingredient in marijuana.

Some 454 pounds of THC vapes were confiscated.

The lesser-involved passenger in the vehicle was arraigned, entered a plea agreement and was sentenced in a single hearing conducted March 30 by Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle. Monica Yazzie, 22, New Mexico, is convicted of a charge reduced to facilitation of transportation of narcotic drugs for sale.

Yazzie told the court that she recognized that her case is serious and that she wants to rebound to be a better person who makes better choices.

Judge Carlisle placed Yazzie on probation for two years. He said he hoped the two-day jail sentence he tacked on will serve as a “wake-up” call so that she is law abiding going forward.

Carlisle noted that the more culpable co-defendant who was driving the vehicle drew the same probation period, but a near three-month jail sentence imposed by another local judge.
